MIRPUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chief and AJK former prime minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has called upon the AJK chief election commissioner to immediately summon an All Parties Conference (APC) to discuss the issues related to upcoming holding of general elections in a free and transparent manner besides to devise a code of conduct.
He stated this while addressing news conference in the capital city of AJK on Saturday on the eve of arrival of new comers in his party.Several PML-N leaders including MLA Barrister Syed Iftikhar Gillani, Dr Raja Arif, Ch Manzoor Ahmed and others were present on the occasion.
Haider who is also a leader of the opposition in the incumbent AJK Legislative Assembly said that only AJK chief election commissioner has the authority to announce the schedule of the elections.
While criticising the sitting PPP-led coalition government of AJK, Raja Farooq Haider Khan accused the sitting AJK ruling group of maneuvering to make AJK constitution-free on the bogey of one pretext or the other. Farooq Haider suggested for holding of the
due AJK Legislative elections before the coming holy month of Ramazanul Mubarik to avert the impending negative impacts of the forthcoming monsoon weather on the polls.
Haider also accused AJK Prime Minister Ch Abdul Majeed for intervening into the coming AJK general elections affairs on one pretext or the other. He said, “This could be called the barefaced pre-poll rigging on the part of the sitting AJK ruling junta”.
He underlined that Prime Minister Majeed had directed deputy commissioners of all AJK districts for making delay in attesting the under-process electoral lists.
The PML-N AJK president declared that his party would encounter and frustrate every attempt by the AJK rulers of providing protection to their AJK ruling elite corruption, malpractices and irregularities before and during the polls.
Farooq Haider warned officials of the AJK’s bureaucracy including the heads of the nation building institutions especially the heads of divisional and district administrations to refrain from the ill deeds on the instructions of the sitting AJK rulers.
The PML (N) AJK chief welcomed the new entrants in his party and hoped their due effective role to make the party successful with a thumping majority in the forthcoming general elections in AJK due to be held by July 24 this year.
