The Sindh College Education Department has launched a UAN (Universal Access Number) service to provide guidance regarding admissions in government colleges. Sindh Education Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, inaugurated the UAN number 021-111-002-100 to facilitate admission guidance for intermediate college students as well as support for their parents. Expressing his views after the inauguration, the Minister said that this service aims to make the admission process easier for students: “Now students and their parents will be able to get admission-related guidance from home instead of visiting offices.” At the inauguration ceremony held in Karachi on Monday, Secretary Colleges Sindh Shahab Qamar Ansari, DG Colleges Navaid Rab Siddiqui, and other concerned officials were also present.
The provincial minister further stated that under the Sindh Electronic Centralized College Admission Program (SECCAP), the entire system-from application submission to admission confirmation, attendance, examinations, and results-will be interlinked online. This will reduce reliance on human resources and make record access easier for students. He added that through the UAN service, students can not only receive guidance but also lodge complaints, which will be promptly addressed. Parents will also be able to use the service for assistance regarding their children’s admissions. During the event, Syed Sardar Ali Shah personally called the UAN number, posing as a student, and asked various questions to test the guidance facility. Expressing satisfaction with its performance, he instructed that measures be taken to enable the service to handle as many calls as possible simultaneously and to ensure immediate response to calls, so that maximum benefit could be provided.
Officials briefed the minister that the UAN service would initially be available during working hours, but its duration would be extended as needed. The minister also directed that the service be further improved and that a component for teachers’ guidance be included. Providing details of admissions under SECCAP, the minister informed that so far, 119,319 applications have been received in Karachi Division, 36,313 in Hyderabad Division, 13,118 in Mirpurkhas Division, 14,601 in Shaheed Benazirabad Division, 15,005 in Larkana Division, and 17,729 in Sukkur Division. Two phases of application submission have been completed, while the third phase is currently ongoing.
